When/Where is the race?

Saturday, November 27th – 7:00 a.m. festivities begin! Historic Downtown McKinney at Mitchell Park during Dickens of a Christmas. Corner of Virginia Parkway and Louisiana Parkway

Are there any parking tips?

Come early
Carpool if possible
Park in the marked areas for Dickens of a Christmas
Exit Hwy 5 and park on the East side of the square in the city buildings parking lots

What types of events are there?

10K Certified Believe! Run 5K Certified Believe! Run 1 Mile Holiday Walk The Great Santa Chase for Kids 12 and under! Holiday Shopping, wonderful unique restaurants, and all the fun activities associated with Dickens of a Christmas!

Can I walk the Race?

We encourage everyone to walk or run if they prefer in the 5K. We ask that only runners participate in the 10K, Please! There will be no chipping in the Family 1-Mile.

What is Pair to Care?

Believe! once again has the opportunity with our great community to make a Christmas wish happen for all our Head Start students in desperate need of new shoes. We will “pair up” with the Head Start classes of McKinney ISD and provide new athletic shoes. We are asking that when you are out shopping for new running shoes or apparel you purchase a pair of shoes in any size. Bring the shoes to Believe! and drop them off at the Rotary of McKinney’s information tent the morning of the race. We will get these new shoes to the students who need them. As a community we could grant this special Christmas wish, simply because we believed!

Are there team registrations?

Yes! Team registration requires a minimum of five registrations and must include a team name to qualify. We ask that before you pick up team packets you verify that you have five participants. T-shirts and backpacks will not be given out if five team members are not registered under the same name.

What is the deadline for registrations?

Mail-in entries must be postmarked by November 20th, 2010. On-line registration will end November 20th at midnight. You may register in person beginning November 21st at CK Sports located at 8880 State Highway 121, McKinney, TX 75070 (214-509-6098 cash or check only), through Friday the 26th, of November. You can also register race morning but the costs will increase and no team registrations will be allowed on race day.

What are the costs? Do I get a race shirt? Can I order a Dri-Fit shirt instead?

$30 Dri-FIT moisture-wicking long sleeve Believe! shirt, registration has to be received by OCTOBER 16th. No team, children or senior discounts with this entry (sorry due to the limited quantities no exceptions).

$20 Pre-Registration, postmarked by November 1st

$25 November 1st through November 26th

$30 Event Day – November 27th

$18 Team registration a minimum of five participants is required. No team registrations will be allowed on race day and the team name must be included on registrations. If a team is not at five then t-shirts will not be given out at this discounted rate.

$18 Children ages 6-12 and seniors 65 and over until November 26th.

$35.00 Take a long winters nap (t-shirt mailed)

(T-shirts guaranteed to first 500 registered only! Although we try, sizes cannot be guaranteed we recommend that you pick up packets early!)

*First 500 registered participants will receive our traditional insulated runner bag FREE!

Can children under the age of 6 participate with me?

Absolutely, and we encourage you to bring them! They may participate in the Great Santa Chase (no cost to run with Santa) and receive a special gift from Santa's helpers! They also are invited to do the course with you. However, in order to receive a t-shirt or bib they must be registered as a participant and a parent release has to be signed for each child.

Pick up times will be 10am-7pm, Monday November 22nd, Tuesday November 23rd, and Wednesday November 24th. (Closed Thanksgiving - Thursday November 25th) and open for pickup Friday, November 26th from 10am – 7pm. You may also pick your packets up at the registration table starting at 7:00 a.m. race day but please note that we can not guarantee shirt sizes and recommend you try to pick up your packet early!

I would like a shirt but I don’t want to get up that early and do the race?

You can choose the… I prefer a long winter’s nap option and we will mail you your shirt!

What types of awards are given?

*1st Place Overall female and male in the 10k and 5K. 1st, 2nd, 3rd place medals for: Age groups female and male: Up to 9 years of age;10-14;15-19; 20-24;25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70 +

All registered kids, that are chipped for the 5K or 10K, will receive an
“I Believed! 2010” dog tag!

Are in-line skates, pets, or bicycles permitted?

For the safety of all participants, in-line skates and bicycles are discouraged at this event. Pets are allowed as long as you adhere to the city leash policy and pick up after your animal.

How do I volunteer for Race Day?

Click on the Volunteer tab and become one of our awesome volunteers! We need over 140 to accommodate the crowd with lots of energy. In return you will get our famous one of a kind volunteer shirt for free. If you need Green Cord hours this is the perfect event to get those last few in before the deadline and have a ton of fun! As always thank you for helping us give back to our great community.

Can you please tell me a little more about The Holy Family School?

The “Believe!” 10K and Family 5K Fun Run/Walk was created to support the scholarship program of Holy Family School in McKinney. Holy Family School has offered over fifty+ years of nurturing care and quality preschool education to its students. Started to provide a safe and Christian setting for the children of Hispanic immigrant workers, Holy Family School continues that legacy today by serving a diverse population, many coming from families that could not afford a quality day-care program for their children.

Where do I go for a group photo or pictures of the event?

Group photos will happen at the giant Christmas tree at Mitchell Park with Santa. You may view these pictures on line at www.believemckinney.org after the event.
